Whether you're a seasoned adventurer, a busy professional, or a concerned citizen, having the right everyday carry (EDC) items can make all the difference in your daily life. EDC items are the tools, accessories, and gear that you carry with you every day to help you solve problems, overcome challenges, and be prepared for any situation.

WHAT IS EDC?

EDC items come in all shapes and sizes, and they can vary depending on your lifestyle, environment, and personal preferences. The key to building an effective EDC kit is to prioritize functionality, durability, and versatility. You want items that can perform multiple tasks, withstand wear and tear, and adapt to different scenarios. You also want items that are easy to carry and access, without weighing you down or attracting unwanted attention.

5 ITEMS TO CARRY EVERY DAY

  • Pocket Knife

A knife is one of the most useful tools, you can cut, slice, pry, and it can also be used in a self defense situation. For most EDC setups, a folding knife makes sense, but a fixed blade is also becoming more popular. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, a folding knife is smaller and more common, raising less awareness. Whereas a fixed blade is more reliable without moving parts, but are usually larger, increasing your signature. When choosing a knife it is always a good idea to consider the purpose and uses.

  • Flashlight

Flashlights have come a long way over the years, higher lumens in a smaller package. At its basic function flashlights allow you to see in the dark, identify a threat, or signal for help. However, flashlights can also be used in self-defense, striking hard boney areas or shining a high output of light at your assailant can give you the opening to flee.

  • Cellphone

This one goes without saying and is also the one item that everyone pretty much has on them all of the time nowadays. Having a phone in an emergency situation is a must, but it is also important to stay calm and relay important information accurately if that situation arises.

  • Pen

Even in the current age of “Smart Devices”, sometimes you need to go analog and write things down. Not to mention, it could be used as a self-defense tool. You’ll want to choose one that is well constructed and durable, also,  look for one with a pressurized ink cartridge. This allows the user to write in extreme temperatures, underwater, and at any angle.

  • Firearm

Due to recent judicial rulings concealed cary permits have been more easily acquired. We realize that not everyone has the desire to carry a firearm everyday, however, if you are able to carry, it is an absolute essential. Don’t forget a quality holster and belt…they all work together. Don’t walk around in fear and don’t walk around looking for trouble. If an unfortunate scenario presents itself in the future, make sure to be as prepared as possible to preserve life.

  • Medical Equipment (Bonus Items)

An additional item to not only carry with you and also have adequate training with is medical equipment. Some essential medical supplies to carry with you every day include bandages, gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, adhesive tape, and a basic first aid guide. You should also consider carrying more advanced medical supplies (ESPECIALLY FOR CCW HOLDERS), such as a tourniquet, hemostatic agent, and chest seals.
